Warren Estabrooks

WARREN ESTABROOKS, M.Ed., Dip. Ed. Deaf, LSLS Cert. AVT® is President and CEO of WE Listen International Inc. in Toronto, Canada. As a global consultant and professional trainer, he lectures worldwide about auditory-verbal therapy and practice, auditory rehabilitation and auditory learning for children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, their families and the professionals who serve them. He is particularly instrumental in the training and development of professionals in related pediatric and adult disciplines.

Mr. Estabrooks is a Global Ambassador of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and a founding Director of the A. G. Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language. Warren was a founding Director of Auditory-Verbal International Inc. and is an Honorary Director of Bundesverein für Auditiv-Verbale Therapie Deutschland (BVAVT) and AV Israel. He is registered with the College of Teachers of Ontario and has held the position of assistant professor at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine. He was the Director of the Auditory Learning Centre of the Learning to Listen Foundation in Toronto from 1980-2007

Mr. Estabrooks has been honored with the Susann Schmid-Giovannini Award for international excellence in auditory-verbal practice, the Professional of the Year Award from the International Organization for the Education of the Hearing Impaired (IOEHI), the Dr. E.W. Wight Memorial Scholarship and the Peter R. Newman Humanitarian Award in recognition of his contribution to children who are deaf and their families around the world. He has been acclaimed to the Canadian Who’s Who as a Canadian of Influence. The Learning to Listen Foundation received the first International Voice of Deafness Award and was twice honored as the Program of the Year from the International Professional Section (IPS) of A. G. Bell.

Mr. Estabrooks has been honored with the namesake of the Warren Estabrooks Center of the Wickramarachchi Speech and Hearing Center (WISH) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Pierre-Roch Cote

PIERRE-ROCH COTE, Secretary and Treasurer of WE Listen International Inc. Pierre-Roch Cote brings a career of expertise in testing, quality control and quality assurance (QA) in the financial sectors to his pivotal role of Secretary of the Corporation of WE Listen International Inc.

His professional skills in QA related to Information Technology and other applications, are highly valued in his role as Secretary and Treasurer of WE Listen International Inc.

 Mr. Cote's skills and services as a Center of Excellence Resource Manager simultaneously supporting multiple Centers of Excellence (Business Analysis, IT Development and Quality Assurance) and multiple Lines of Business are highly sought after in many business genres.

In addition, Mr. Cote brings his exceptional listening skills, his positive attitude, his passion and vibrant caring for children and adults with hearing loss and their families, to his role with WE Listen International Inc.

Karen MacIver-Lux

Karen MacIver-Lux, M.A., Aud(C), Reg. CASLPO, LSLS Cert. AVT® is the Director of MacIver-Lux Auditory Learning Services in King City, Ontario, Canada.  As an audiologist and certified auditory-verbal therapist, she provides therapy services and consultations to families and professionals.  Karen holds the position of Lecturer in the School of Human Communication Disorders at Dalhousie University, and is also a consultant to WE Listen International Inc.

From 1997-2007 Karen worked as an auditory-verbal therapist and coordinator of clinical services at the Learning to Listen Foundation (LTLF), North York General Hospital in Toronto. In addition, she worked as a clinical audiologist for several years.  She also served as a director of the board of Auditory-Verbal International, Inc.  Karen has a congenital severe to profound hearing loss and is a graduate of LTLF.

Karen was honoured by Maclean’s magazine as one of the Top 100 young Canadians of 2000 and received the Who’s Who in Students of American Colleges and Universities Award in 1993.

Karen has made contributions to the literature including: How the Student with Hearing Loss Can Succeed in College (2nd ed.) (1996), 50 FAQs About AVT (2001), Songs for Listening! Songs for Life! (2003), Listen to This! - Volume I (2004), The Listener (2000, 2005), Listen to This!-Volume 2 (2006), Auditory-Verbal Therapy and Practice (2006), and Perspectives on Audiology (2009).  She has consulted and lectured internationally and continues to be instrumental in the training of professionals worldwide.

Lisa Katz

Lisa Katz, M.H.Sc., S-LP(C), Reg. CASLPO, LSLS Cert. AVT is currently working as a speech-language pathologist/auditory-verbal therapist for the Toronto Infant Hearing Program in Toronto, Ontario Canada.  She is also a consultant to WE Listen International Inc. through which she provides leadership and training in auditory-verbal practice to professionals both nationally and internationally. 

Lisa received her master's degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Toronto.  From 2001-2007, she worked as an auditory-verbal therapist and the coordinator of professional education at the Learning to Listen Foundation in Toronto. Previously, she worked in the Cochlear Implant Program at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. 

 Lisa has presented papers and seminars at numerous national and international conferences and has contributed to the literature in Songs for Listening, Songs for Life, Listen to This, Volume 1, Listen to This, Volume 2 and Auditory-Verbal Therapy and Practice.  

Kathryn Wilson

Kathryn Wilson M.A., CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert. AVT is a Speech-Language Pathologist, Teacher of the Deaf and Auditory-Verbal Therapist, with many years of experience as an educator, therapist, and consultant in public school, private practice, home-based, and clinical settings.  Kathryn is a former member of the Board of Directors for Auditory-Verbal International, Inc., and served as Co-chair of its Professional Education Committee. Prior to assuming the directorship of FIRST YEARS at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Ms. Wilson was the Director of the Resource Support Program in the Office of Education Services for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. She also mentors professionals pursuing certification in Auditory-Verbal Practice and is a consultant for WE Listen International Inc.

Lise Henderson

Lise Henderson - Warren Estabrooks is pleased to announce that Lise Henderson, of Manchester, UK, has joined WE Listen International Inc., as a consultant in professional education and training.

Lise will be working with Warren in the training programmes in Portugal and the Middle East.

Lise qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist at Manchester University in 1985. After 10 years working with a mixed paediatric caseload she moved to the Manchester Paediatric Cochlear Implant Programme where she developed her interest in Auditory Verbal Therapy.

In 2003 she qualified as a Cert AVT and later that year took on the role of Paediatric Co-ordinator at the Cochlear Implant Programme. She trains and lectures in the UK and internationally and since qualifying as a Cert AVT she has mentored a number of therapists in the UK and Dubai.

She is currently 1 of only 9 certified AV therapists in the UK and is committed to increasing the awareness and availability of Auditory Verbal Therapy to professionals and families of hearing impaired children.

Martin Lux

Martin Lux is the Director of Multimedia Support at Revinet Inc. in King City, Ontario, Canada.  Martin provides photography, filming, pre/post-production, and audio-visual support services.  In addition to his freelance work, he has produced a variety of video and photographic media for the Learning to Listen Foundation and the Canadian Academy of Audiology.  Martin is currently the Audio-Visual Manager of WE Listen International Inc.

Mary Woodburn

Mary Woodburn is an Administrative Assistant with sixteen years experience working in health care.  She presently works in Paediatrics at North York General Hospital, Toronto, Canada.  Mary works for  both the Neonatal Follow-up Clinic as well as with the Toronto Preschool Speech and Language Services. Mary has extensive experience in event planning and conference organization.  For many years in the hospital clinic, Mary was the administrative support for the Auditory Learning Programme at NYGH.  In addition to her full time work schedule, she works on a part time basis for WE Listen International Inc. as personal assistant to Mr. Estabrooks.

Marian Ector

Marian Ector is a regular volunteer for WE Listen International Inc. Marian has been an Associate with Bell Canada for over 30 years, where she presently works with the contractors in the Billing Department. In addition to her full time work schedule, Marian works one on one with clients in her Mary Kay business. For five years, Marian volunteered as the Facilities Manager for Rhema Christian Ministries and gained experience in event planning and conference organization.

Janice Lee

Janice Marie Lee, M.H.Sc.,  S-LP(C), Reg. CASLPO, B.Des. is a speech-language pathologist and  professional graphic designer.

Janice received her master's degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Toronto and she currently works for the Infant Hearing Program and the Durham Preschool Speech and Language Program in Ajax/Pickering, Ontario, Canada.  Janice has attended both Levels I and II with WE Listen International, Inc and is working towards LSLS Auditory-Verbal therapist certification.

Additionally, as a result of her passion for design and speech-language pathology, Janice is actively involved in the design and creation of speech and language materials for future publication.

Janice is the webmaster who is responsible for the WE Listen International Inc. website design and management.
